Interrail American Style - Day 6

Our train ride this time was relatively short and we got pretty quickly to our hostel/hotel/inn...I don't really know what it is :) After getting some basic information about the city we went walking around the city. We found something called Pioneer Courthouse Square where we got even more information about what to do. On our way through the city we spotted many flowers and particularly roses. Portland is known to be the "City of Roses" because the climate is great for growing them.

We ended up going to a place called Henry's Tavern where they had 100 beers on tap and happy hour to 6 p.m. We had dinner and beer and it was goooooood! Portland is also known for its microbreweries and coffee, so tomorrow we will check out the espresso...and of course some more beer :) After that we went to check out Powell's Books, the U.S. biggest independent bookstore...and my god it was big! Later at night we went to a place called Deschutes Brewery where they "only" had 49 beers on tap...still very good. Here Martin got a beer tasting plate with six different beers chosen by the brewer.

Today was a great day and we love Portland! Especially since it is thought to be the most green city in the U.S. and it has even got a road called "Electric Avenue" where you can charge your electric car! Fantastic! :D
