Interrail American Style - Day 1

Martin and I had decided to go on a vacation with train through the states, with something called USA Rail Pass from Amtrak. With this we can travel for 15 days with 8 segments (trips with train/bus). We wanted our first stop to be Glacier Park in Montana, and we ended up with chosing West Glacier. From there we want to to Seattle, Portland and ending up in San Fancisco. I figured I could give you guys home an update here on my blog as we go :) Our flight leaves San Francisco June 5th, so this is gonna be "Vacation-get-the-hell-to-San-Francisco!"

Right now I'm lying in bed and it's past 1 a.m. We arrived West Glacier Park around 11.30 p.m. and got up to our room pretty quickly. Good thing, becuase this trip has so far been a little stressful and somwhat unclean. We started out at St. Olaf getting a ride from the fabolous Evan Deam to the train station in St. Paul.  Here we were to pick up our pass and tickets and since we were there 15 minutes before the train arrived we got grumpy looks from the lady behind the counter. We had also four big suitcases and one small, ergo one too many to pull for the two of us. We therefore emptied the smallest one and gave it away. In addition to these four suitcases we have each our bag and Martin has a guitar....wish us good luck :) We were a little bit afraid that we wouldn't get it all on the train but in the end everything went well.

Our way to the West was estimated 22 hours and some minutes, but after great delays we ended up sitting on the train an entire day. As you can imagine this tend to be an issue for sanitary needs. When we finally got out of North Dakota the scenery got better (not as flat anymore) and it didn't take to long before the Rockies  mounted the skyline. By then it was dusk so we couldn't see to much but we are exited for what tomorrow will bring :)

Goodnight to you all, and enjoy the few pictures we have managed to take so far <3
